Spin The Wheel

Spin The Wheel is more than a label; it’s more than a collective. It’s a multi-faceted syndicate led by AKA Alex, and the incarnation of the creative zeitgeist that flows through the South West of England. Whether promoting their artists on lineups at events, or helping formulate a social media strategy, STW facilitates the necessary exposure for its eclectic roster to reach the masses.

Holding its focus on underground, independent artists, Spin The Wheel acts as a platform for emerging talent and a central hub for releasing new, unheard music. Since its inception, the label has released debuts from x-o1, Ybot and IN2U, as well as tracks and mixes by a growing roster of resident DJs.

The label began as a lockdown project with the collective finding themselves dispersed across the South West. With no events to link up at, the crew setup a Discord where they began sharing stems and chatting during monthly live streams on Twitch.

In 2021 clubs reopened and AKA Alex began the search for a new, in-person home for STW to run events. The first nights were held at The Cock N Tail and quickly gained momentum in a bubbling new scene of multi genre nights with a familiar crowd of dancers and DJs. A residency at Cosies from Sep-Dec 2022 continued to showcase guest DJs from across the Bristol scene as well as residents.

In 2022 the label released its first EP and a debut from one of Bristol’s most unique new talents, UKG producer x-o1. The release was a year in the making and was the first music which AKA Alex signed onto the label during lockdown, pursuing x-o1 for the demos after seeing them on his Instagram stories.

Since then the label has released tracks by Earthnut and IN2U and another debut EP by another upcoming South West producer, Ybot. Shortly following the release, STW took up a residency at 1020 Radio with a regular monthly slot. A space for the collective to come together, test out new tracks on the airwaves and invite guests along.

In Nov 2022, STW collaborated with Bristol-based artist Holly Mingo to create a bespoke t-shirt design and launched a limited run of merch. Into 2023, the label is sitting on unreleased music whilst it carries out a visual rebrand and is planning its next moves.
